I met my brother outside in the yard when I got there and gave him the Mothers Day card I picked out for her. I had him take it in to her. Earlier I had apologized and told her that I mailed my card too late and it wouldn't be there by Saturday. So he went in and handed her the card, which she opened thinking it was from him. When she saw my name in it she was confused, then I came in. Tears of happiness abound. As I told her - we've been together for the past 32 Mother's Days - no reason to break that streak now!
The truth is - no one knows what will happen next year. This time last year I didn't expect my father to have been in the hospital not once but twice. Two of my closest friends have each lost a parent way too early. So if I loose a few hours of sleep and have a few more chores to catch up on when I get home - it's worth it to spend the time that I can with my mom. I love her.
How lovely is she?

Gotta love my goofy brother.

We got a family portrait done before we headed off for dinner.

For dinner, we got together with our oldest friends to celebrate together. Bony (she'll always be Bony to me, even though the rest of the world knows her as Lavonia) served us a delicious dinner at her lovely home and it was wonderful to be together.
Isn't Bony lovely?

And funny too! Her students are so blessed to have her as a teacher.
