197/365

Matt's been playing around with a few blueberry recipes to celebrate the season. This one is quite yummy - blueberry soda (from Alton Brown's recipe)

I've been trying to not kill a few orchids for a couple of months now and I got my first bloom!

196/365 Shuttle WIN!

6th time is apparently the charm! STS-127 Endeavour went up today at 6:03 pm.

We watched it from the Space View Park in Titusville with a couple hundred of our closest friends.

Just as the shuttle took off - you can barely see the flames

Love the girl rocking the horns :)

Off and zooming

Nearly gone - all that is left is the smoke trail

Very happy campers :)

194/365 Shuttle launch take 5

We drove back out to the Atlantic today in hopes of seeing Shuttle Endeavour launch - only to be foiled yet again a few moments before the final county down with bad weather.

Seriously guys - this is Florida. It rains in the late afternoon in Florida. I'm no meterologist, but even I know that.

Sigh....

193/365

Today was the last morning in Miami and then a boring drive back home.

Before I left town - a few pics from my parents garden. They have a large green house area that my dad made many, many years ago. He built a wooden screened enclousure and spread rocks for ground cover. Back in November, my brother put a few old pumpkins on one of the shelves and then promptly forgot about it. Well, the pumpkin rotted and the seeds dropped down to the rocky ground cover. There is now a small pumpkin patch growing there:

Here's one of my dads lovely orchids:

And another one on it's way:

Finally I returned home. Almost immediately after I got home, we got back in the car and drove an hour and half east to see the Shuttle Endeavour launch. Unfortunately for us - it was scrubbed just a few minutes before take off due to bad weather.

Um - you think? Really? I agree - really bad weather.

Too bad it took us twice as long to get home.
