It's Father's Day in Miami. I'm spending the early part of the day with my dad and then leaving Matt in Miami to be with his mom while I go back to work for a few days. I'll be back soon in the week.

My parents have these two old oak trees in their front yard and this orchid set up residence in one tree many years ago. I love when it blooms because it is so gorgeous. This is the view I had as I was loading up my car to leave.

41/365 - Finally home from Miami

This morning I woke up in Miami. I took two quick photos of my dad's orchid before heading to a nearly dawn meeting at the hospital.

Day 4 of the hospital visit. We went very early to the hospital to meet with the doctor and got some good news. The scan showed no malignancies!!!!!!!!

My dad was able to go home today, so I went home too. What a long few days.

This is my message to those of you who smoke (like my father) - QUIT.

Quit. Just quit. Don't wait till next year, next job, next whatever. Quit now.

Quit before you get pneumonia, emphysema, COPD or cancer. Quit before you have a heart attack or a stroke. Quit before it's too late.

Just quit.

This was the notebook I jotted down names of medications, test results, questions and such while dad was in the hospital.

Matt's been playing around with a few blueberry recipes to celebrate the season. This one is quite yummy - blueberry soda (from Alton Brown's recipe)

I've been trying to not kill a few orchids for a couple of months now and I got my first bloom!
